
Spirit Horse
A warrior's favorite horse, whether it was a hunting horse or a warrior horse, was always remembered as the fastest, smartest, most beautiful and brave. This painting shows the horse kicking up his heels, happy and whimsical and everything a warrior would want in his favorite horse.

The Storm
This is another tea painting. After I prepared the paper, I saw the tea had made the look of a storm coming. It was easy to see what I was going to paint. The storm represents the turmoil of the Indian people when the Europeans began to take more and more land. The Indian people had to move and keep moving to escape the "storm". They were pushed until there were no more alternatives.

Badlands
The Badlands in South Dakota are the driest area in the state. Very few animals and even fewer people live there. In the old days, the Badlands were a place of gathering for Sun dances and Ghost dances. Both were outlawed by the United States.

Four Horsemen of the Lakota
The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse are Death, Famine, War and Pestilence. The Lakota never had "bad" spirits. We asked for guidance from the Creator and thanked him when we received it. I am using the 4 horsemen as guides for our your people. They each have a power to share. Our 4 horsemen are Spirituality, Integrity, Courage and Wisdom.

Semper Fidelis
The Marines have always been the first to engage the enemy and the first to lose men. The landing on Iwo Jima was the toughest fight they had during the war.
My father told me that during the fighting everything was black and white. Nothing seemed to be in color. Maybe it was the black sands of Iwo Jima.
